AROUND THE BEND—DESIGNING WITH CURVES
Confident beginner workshop for students who are ready to create original compositions that emphasizes curvilinear shapes. This workshop takes all the technical skills learned in Circle & Curve Sampler and moves towards an exploration of design and composition.
It is recommended that students are comfortable creating pieced curved units without a ruler.

 Jane Sassaman: An Adventure in Quilting
Art Nest Retreat – Agency, Missouri (30 miles north of Kansas City airport)

ABSTRACT APPLIQUE -  INSPIRED BY NATURE  
Mother Nature is the supreme designer. In this class we will be focusing on some of those amazing details to create abstract fabric compositions. Bring close-up photos of bugs, butterflies, fish, flowers, leaves, seashells, seeds, etc. From these we will extract patterns, colors and shapes and mix them into exciting nonrepresentational compositions. Eventually, these compositions will be transformed into appliqued fabric and thread collages. This is a painless way to learn Jane’s very accessible applique technique and perhaps even try some of those unused stitches on your sewing machine.

This course strives to stimulate new ways to add energy and excitement to your fiber work through shapes, patterns and color.  It will also supply you with a collection of unique motifs to apply later to your surface design or fiber art.

Students should have a desire to develop their own design language and unique visual symbols, plus an interest in the history of decorative design.

REGISTRATION DETAILS
Upon registering, each student will receive an email confirmation along with a supply list and general details about the workshop. Registrations are processed on a first come, first serve basis. If the class is full, you can request to be put on the waitlist.

Deposit & Registration: A $250 deposit is required at the time of registration.  To receive $100 Earlybird Discount, submit payment in full no later than Nov 30, 2026! All fees must be paid in full by Feb 15, 2027

Cancellation Policy: If a student needs to cancel prior to Feb 15, 2027, all payments are refundable less $50 administration fee. If after Feb 15, registrations can be transferred to another person or 25% refundable. Cancellations must be in writing and emailed to Denniele at denniele@gmail.com You may designate someone to take your place if you cannot attend. We are not responsible for travel refunds.

Final Payment: The remaining balance of $950 is due Feb 15, 2027. A $25 late fee is added to all payments received after that date. If you register after February 15, 2027, your final payment will be due upon receipt of your invoice.

Your hosts for this event will be Tina Jackson, Denniele Bohannon, and Sherry Keegan who have been Jane Sassaman fans for some time and are very excited to be hosting Jane’s first trip to Missouri!
